East Bay Vivarium ("we," "us" or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through our website, eastbayvivarium.com (the "Site"), and how we use it
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly. If you contact us through the Site, or sign up to receive text or email updates, we collect the information you provide, such as your name, phone number or email address.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, the Site may use cookies or similar technologies to collect standard technical data (such as browser type, pages visited and general location) for basic site functionality and analytics.
Purchase information. Most in-store transactions are handled through our point-of-sale system at our physical location and are not collected or stored through this website. For certain bookings, such as the Traveling Reptile Show, we may send a prepayment link through Lightspeed, our point-of-sale and payments provider, via text or email. Payment processing for these transactions is handled directly by Lightspeed; we do not store your full payment card information on our own systems.
2. Nature of the Site
We use the information described above to:
• Respond to inquiries submitted through the Site
• Send updates you've opted in to receive (text and/or email)
• Maintain and improve the Site
We do not sell or lease your personal information to third parties.
3. Event Bookings and Cancellation Policy
If you opt in to receive text messages (e.g., "What's New in the Store") or email updates, we will only use your phone number or email address for that purpose and consistent with the consent you provided at sign-up. Our text messaging program is operated through SlickText, a third-party SMS platform.
• Message and data rates may apply.
• Message frequency varies.
• You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any text message, or by using the unsubscribe link in any email.
• Reply HELP to a text message for assistance.
• Your mobile information and consent will not be shared with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes.
We use third-party service providers to operate parts of the Site, process payments or send communications you've opted into. This includes:
• SlickText, which manages our text messaging program (opt-in collection, message delivery and opt-out requests)
• Lightspeed, which processes in-store and event-booking payments, including prepayment links sent for events such as the Traveling Reptile Show
We may also use a website hosting platform or email marketing platform. These providers only receive the information necessary to perform their function and are not permitted to use it for their own marketing purposes.
Any third-party platforms linked from the Site (for example, MorphMarket) have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.
4. California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we've collected about you, the right to request deletion of that information, and the right to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights. The Site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal informationfrom children under 13 through the Site.
