At the East Bay Vivarium, we
specialize in the captive production of a wide selection of
reptiles, amphibians, and arachnids. Our store supplies zoos,
educational institutions and classrooms as well as individuals and
families with snakes, lizards, tortoises, turtles, frogs, toads,
salamanders, tarantulas and scorpians. We carry a complete line of
cages, supplies and food as well as a book selection of more than
200 titles covering these animals in captivity and the
wild.
The Vivarium is the nations
largest and oldest retail herpetological store open in the East Bay
since 1970. Our staff is courteous, knowledgeable and eager to get
you involved in this young and exciting feild.
Reptiles and other small
exotics are gaining in popularity daily. These animals are quiet,
hypoallergenic, able to live comfortably in small places, virtually
order free, flealess and never need to be walked. They invite you
into their world and their way of living, offering you a glimpse
into an alien landscape and your own primordial past. These
creatures are the essence of fascination.
Habitat destruction has
become a daily threat to the existence of these animals around the
world. Frog species are dwindling at a catastrophic rate and they
are harbingers of a bigger ecological Armageddon. Bringing these
refugees into our homes, encouraging and understanding their ways,
and propagating them can provide a last home for animals that might
otherwise disappear from the earth entirely and forever.
Please visit our facility in
Berkeley or our online store and become familiar with animals for
whom your face must seem stranger to them than theirs will to you!
Our retail store hours are 11 am till 7 pm Monday through Friday and
11 am till 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday. We are located at 1827-C 5th
Street in Berkeley, California. Our online store is open to visitors
24 hours a day, 7 days a week! Thank you for visiting us and please
come back soon!! |
